And blame it on this frigidity; our skin tends to become very dry and flaky. While moisturizing does most of the job but exfoliating your skin is equally important and crucial as it helps in removing dead skin cells. Most of you must be aware of skin exfoliation but certainly not lip exfoliation. Yes, you heard it right! Much like your skin, your lips also require all the pampering and care it can get. You may think hydrating them must be enough but that’s not right. In order to get rid of all the flakiness, dry texture, your lips require gentle exfoliation. And that can easily be done by using a DIY lip scrub. These lip scrubs are made keeping in mind that it must do both the jobs and i.e. to exfoliate the lips and add nourishment to them. It basically helps in sloughing off the dead skin cells and chapped skin layer which further makes it easier for the lip balm to penetrate into the skin. Doing so on a daily basis will make sure your lips remain healthy, super soft, supple and rosier. When it comes to lip scrub what’s better than making one on your own with the use of some ingredients that can easily be found at your home. We have rounded up a list of some of the DIY’s that are very easy to prepare and will work very effectively for your dry lips.

1. Raspberry lip scrub

A lip scrub that not only smells amazing but also tastes good can easily be implied as one of the best kinds of scrub. It is very easy to prepare and all it will need is some raspberries, coconut oil, and raw sugar. You can also choose to add some other ingredients you feel like such as food coloring to add some tint to the lips. If you don’t find raw sugar at stores you can use granulated, brown or white sugar as well.

Take 4-5 raspberries in a bowl, mash them into a jam and then mix all the other ingredients with 2-3 drops of food coloring. Stir them well and your lip scrub is prepared. You can store this nicely in small tin containers that you can easily find at stores.

2. Cinnamon lip scrub

Cinnamon is known as a natural lip plumper, which is a great alternative to otherwise highly expensive lip injections. You can easily achieve those pout perfect lips by using this cinnamon lip scrub which will also do the job of exfoliation perfectly well. It will help you in achieving super soft and smooth lips quite instantly.

You can take the quantity of ingredients depending upon the amount of scrub you want to prepare. And to prepare this scrub you will need ½ tablespoon of cinnamon powder, an equal amount of raw honey and ½ tablespoon of olive oil. Take them in a bowl and mix all the ingredients nicely. Store the scrub in a small container.

Apply a nice layer of this scrub on your lips; rub it gently whilst exfoliating your lips. Rinse with lukewarm water and you are good to go.

3. Bubblegum lip scrub

Have a never-ending love for bubblegum? Then this lip scrub is just for you. Even if you accidentally get it inside of your mouth, you surely wouldn’t mind the taste and of course the sweet smell. The ingredients present in this scrub serve different functionality. Sugar helps in removing the dead skin cells, whereas, olive oil provides hydration to the lips and keeps them all moist and the food coloring is just an add-on which will add some rosy tint to your lips.

Take mashed strawberries in a bowl, and then add all the other ingredients in the same. Stir them nicely until all the ingredients have mixed up well. Then add 2-3 drops of food coloring to it. tadaaa! Your lip scrub is prepared. After scrubbing your lips with this scrub, make sure to apply a lip balm.

4. Lemon lip scrub

And we just can’t get enough of lemon, like how can we, when we know they are so amazingly beneficial for skin in innumerable ways. Lemons are known to be a natural bleaching agent which further helps in sloughing off the dead skin cells present on the lips.

Take 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and add 2 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of honey to it. You can also choose to add oil of your choice to give extra hydration to your lips. Mix them well and store it in a small container. Apply a good layer of this scrub for 2 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.

5. Shea butter lip scrub

Shea butter is one of the ingredients which is majorly found in most of the lip products such as lipsticks and lip balms. It is packed with vitamin A and vitamin E which helps in treating and preventing dry chapped lips, whilst making sure your lips are all smooth and soft.

All you will need is some shea butter and sugar to prepare the scrub. Take 1 tablespoon each of shea butter and sugar. Mix them nicely and store it in a small container. Apply the scrub to your lips and rub it gently. The sugar extracts present in the scrub will act as an exfoliator while shea butter will seal the moisture to your lips.
